At CRCI 2024, Cyber Ireland and South East Technological University (SETU) bring you an industry focused cybersecurity research workshop: Bridging Academia and Industry for Real-World Impact.

This dedicated workshop for industry will take place after the conference at 4.00pm – 6.00pm, to bring academia and industry together with the aim to:

  • Promote industry cybersecurity research project case studies and best practices.
  • Share information on funding options, academic R&D capabilities and how to engage with academia.
  • Facilitate new collaborative industry-academia cybersecurity R&D projects.

The workshop will feature industry research presentations from:

  • John Barry (Security Architect, Intel Ireland): Advancements in certifiable asymmetric cryptography and its role in securing hardware attestation protocols, a critical component for ensuring device integrity.
  • Daniel Hayman (Intelligence Operations Analyst, Centripetal Networks): A deep-dive analysis of threat actor groups like BlackBasta, with a focus on intelligence-driven threat actor analysis and the latest tactics used by ransomware groups.
  • Nigel Douglas (Senior Cloud Security Strategist, Sisdig): OWASP Top 10 security risks in Kubernetes and cloud-native environments, including a hands-on look at how to use a cloud-native response engine to mitigate these risks.
