On 18th June, over 65 members of Cyber Ireland’s Dublin Chapter gathered at KPMG, Harbourmaster Place, Dublin, for an in-person event focused on the rapidly evolving landscape of cybersecurity regulation.
The session opened with Louis Cohen, Head of Cyber Security & Resilience at ComReg, who shared regulatory insights on NIS2 from a national regulator’s perspective.
Ian Fahey, Managing Director – Cyber, KPMG introduced the Cybersecurity Regulatory Challenges, and provided an overview of NIS2 and insights into the NIS2 compliance journey from Scope Identification to Implementation and Monitoring.
The topic of NIS2 Supervision & Enforcement was addressed by Rida Villanueva, Founder & Head of Cyber Risk Services at Cyberhealth Services. She introduced Ireland’s new sectoral supervision model, where sector-specific regulators, coordinated nationally by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), will oversee compliance.
Deirdre Kilroy, Partner, Bird & Bird Ireland spoke about Managing Regulatory Obligations in a Cyber Incident and how the new laws (NIS2, DORA, CER Directive, CRA, AI Act etc) are changing how companies respond to a cyber incident. Insights into the common issues that arise when managing regulatory risk in a cyber incident
were provided.
The presentations were followed by an interactive panel discussion and Q&A, offering attendees a chance to engage directly with the speakers. The event concluded with a networking reception hosted by KPMG, fostering collaboration and discussion amongst the Dublin Chapter members.
