A new cross border initiative is now underway to support the next generation of cyber talent. CyberQuest, launched in Belfast last week with funding from PEACEPLUS, brings together The Bytes Project, REIM Training Solutions, YouthAction Northern Ireland, Springvale Learning and Foróige. REIM serves as the lead training partner, delivering a programme designed to widen access to cyber and digital skills for young people aged 16 to 25.
CyberQuest will work with 2000 young people, introducing them to the core digital skills, leadership and the foundations of cybersecurity while providing 200 young people with a structured pathway toward industry recognised CompTIA IT certification. This will provide them with a clear route into Further Education and Training or entry level cyber roles and create a skills pipeline for the cyber sector.
Alongside technical learning, the youth sector partners provide CyberQuest young people with a unique wrap around youth led and trauma informed approach. This ensures that young people who may not typically engage with formal training have the support they need to build confidence and develop the resilience required for careers in cybersecurity and digital roles.
Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald said “CyberQuest is an ambitious and timely initiative that opens doors for young people to gain real skills, build confidence and take their first steps into meaningful careers in this high growth sector.”
Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science James Lawless TD said “CyberQuest will address a critical skills need while enabling access to education and training pathways for young people across communities.”
SEUPB Chief Executive Gina McIntyre said “PEACEPLUS aims to improve access to inclusive and quality services in education and training. CyberQuest is an important step in that direction.”

As CyberQuest moves into delivery phase, the partner organisations look forward to working with young people across the island to spark early interest in cybersecurity and help shape the workforce of the future.
