18th Feb. CISA Global: BCIU Virtual Discussion
BCIU was approached by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to help them launch their first ever international strategy, entitled CISA Global. Working with foreign partners builds CISA’s capacity and strengthens their ability to globally defend against cyber incidents, enhance the security and resilience of critical infrastructure, identify and address the most significant risks to the national critical functions, and provide seamless and secure emergency communications.
To launch CISA Global, BCIU is organizing a virtual roundtable CISA’s Acting Director Brandon Wales, from 10am to 11am EST on February 18th, 2021 to discuss the new strategy, the importance for global partnerships, and provide a platform for discussion with representatives from the government, private sector, academia, and the international community.
About the Event
As cybercrime accelerates, it is critical to continue to invest and strengthen cybersecurity systems and infrastructure. Although there is a consensus among states and internal bodies regarding the need for alignment on cybersecurity policies, the effectiveness of international cooperation mechanisms are complex. During this Fireside Chat, Acting Director Wales will discuss the importance of international collaboration on cybersecurity and the protection of critical infrastructure. Additionally, Acting Director Wales will focus on CISA Global, a new initiative which outlines how CISA will work with international partners to fulfill their responsibilities, execute their work, and create unity of effort within their mission areas. The strategy details CISA’s international vision and commits the agency to four goals: advancing operational cooperation; building partner capacity; strengthening collaboration through stakeholder engagement and outreach; and shaping the global policy ecosystem.
