8th Sept. Enable meets Cork: A Smart Gateway Region
After a successful Cork Smart Gateway webinar series where different type of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security, 5G, among others were introduced and research developments on them were shared, we are now pleased to invite you to an online event where Industry and Academia partners meet for a conversation hosted by the Enable Research Programme.
The event will take place via zoom on the 8th of September at 9am.
Collaboration between Industry and Academia is key to catalyse innovation and growth in technology. Therefore, the “Enable meets Cork: A Smart Gateway Region” event aims to showcase the successful experiences of the three research centres that are part the Enable programme and their collaborative work with Industry partners on smart cities and communities research.
The event will kick-off with the welcoming words delivered by Mr. John Forde, Senior Executive Officer at the Directorate for Economic Development, Enterprise & Tourism at Cork County Council and Prof. Siobhan Clarke, Director and PI of Enable.
Next, the Enable research centres and their Industry partners will share their collaborative experiences as follows:
- Insight: Centre for Data Analytics represented by Prof. Ken Brown will share their experience on working with Dr. Menouer Boubekeru from Collins Aerospace: Applied Research and Technology and their work carried when the Cork lab was part of United Technologies Research Centre.
- CONNECT: Centre for Future Networks represented by Dr. Donna O’Shea will engage in a conversation with VMWare, represented by its Senior Director Architecture and Shared Services (CIO-CTO) Brian Danaher.
- Lero: The Irish Software Research Centre will be represented by Prof. Edward Jones who will discuss the mutual benefits of Industry-Academia research collaboration with Valeo, represented by Jonathan Horgan, Senior Expert – Computer Vision and Deep Learning Architecture Manager.
