11th Feb. [email protected] Webinar: Towards Large-scale Deepfake Detection

Join [email protected] on Thursday 11th February at 12.30pm for the next Tech Talk webinar which is entitled “Towards Large-scale Deepfake Detection” and will be presented by local Cork student Gregory Tarr. In recent weeks Greg Tarr from Bandon Grammar School was awarded the BT Young Scientist & Technologist of the year for his project was entitled ‘Using artificial intelligence to detect state-of-the-art deepfakes. A comprehensive analysis of detection methodologies and improvements in the field’.


During this webinar Greg will give a brief history of the field of AI, followed by a conceptual analysis of deepfake creation methods, and methods of detecting them. The webinar will touch upon some issues that arise when deploying machine learning at scale, as well as methods of solving them.

Gregory Tarr


Greg is an eighteen year old who attends Bandon Grammar School in Co. Cork. He has won 8 awards at BT Young Scientist: 6 for work in AI/ML including BT Young Scientist & Technologist of the Year 2021 as well as the Stripe, Bell Labs, and Intellectual Ventures special awards. He has worked as a software engineer for a datacenter and as an AI engineer implementing production ready systems.
