3rd March. Local Enterprise Week 2021: The Cyber Threat Landscape
This talk will provide the attendees with an insight into the current and future threats facing Irish businesses. Based on cases and data relating to attacks and incidents against Irish businesses Brian will highlight the techniques criminals employ to target Irish businesses and what can be done to counter those threats.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Mr. Brian Honan
Brian Honan is a recognised internationally as an expert on cybersecurity. He has acted as a special advisor to Europol’s Cybercrime Centre (EC3), founder of Ireland’s first CERT, and sits on the advisory board for several innovative security companies. Brian is the author of several books and regularly contributes to various publications. For his contribution to the cybersecurity industry Brian has been awarded the “SC Magazine Information Security Person of the Year” and was also inducted into the Infosecurity Hall of Fame.

Ms. Derya Sousa – Chief Operating Officer & Co-founder, Kianda Derya is an IT Consultant, specializing in enterprise application UI/UX and is currently Entrepreneur in Residence with the NTMA. She has vast experience of working across multiple industries, acting both in an advisory role, as well as hands on in the technical build of solutions. Following her co-founding of Kianda in 2016 she is now focused on helping Kianda’s customers to accelerate their commercial success, through digital transformation, using the Kianda platform.
Dr. Christina Thorpe – Lecturer & Researcher, TU Dublin Dr. Christina Thorpe graduated with a B.Sc. in Computer Science from University College Dublin in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2011. She was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Performance Engineering Lab in UCD from 2011 – 2018. Since 2011, she has been a Lecturer in Cyber Security in the Technological University Dublin (formally ITB).
