VMGroup operates principally in Ireland but has completed investigations worldwide including the UK, Northern Ireland, Across Europe, Africa and the United Arab Emirates.

VMGroup works with corporations, governments and law firms to meet legal, regulatory and investigative demands by leveraging our skills to enable our clients to more confidently govern, secure, find, analyse and rapidly understand their data.

VMGroup uses our people and our technology to help clients identify, collect, analyse, and review electronic documents and data to locate the key evidence. Evidence could be extracted from all types of media such as Phones, Computers, Laptops, IoT devices and so forth. VMGroup currently has three geographic locations including Dublin, Dundalk and Letterkenny.

This consultant position sits in the Digital Forensics and Discovery team within VMGroup. As part of the role, you will be based in the Dublin office and trained in delivering a range of digital forensics services to clients, including data collection, data extraction and forensic analysis. Electronic discovery activities will also be included in the training, including data processing, analytics, and reviewing.

You will be part of a growing team of digital forensics professionals responsible for delivering computer forensics services to our clients, including:

Secure and preserve electronic evidence to forensic standards, on-site at client premises around Ireland and sometimes abroad
Utilise industry standard and bespoke software to access, extract and handle data from phones, mobile devices, computers and storage media
Perform forensic analysis and reporting for a wide range of digital devices under the supervision of senior staff
Research and develop custom solutions as required on a case-by-case basis
Develop techniques to deal with larger data sets, including the use of scripting languages
Be customer-service-oriented to meet client deadlines, including working out of business hours when necessary
Travel as required to ensure effective management of case activities, which may be at short notice.
Liaise with clients and senior staff to manage work and meet client requests

At VMGroup you will receive training and mentoring on cutting-edge computer forensics tools and electronic discovery platforms you will have the opportunity to work alongside industry-recognised specialists on high-profile engagements. As part of your role you will perform the following.

Forensically acquire evidence from electronic sources for analysis;
Conduct IT Forensics analysis on laptops, desktops and servers to best practice;
Investigate intrusions on networks and any IT Security breaches, reverse engineer malware;
Perform in-depth analysis of data for expert witness testimony;
Conduct forensic analysis on mobile devices;
Conduct eDiscovery engagements in line with the eDiscovery process;
Assist with documentation, reporting, conducting research; and
Support business development initiatives.

Requirements

Knowledge of computer forensics, including applications such as Axiom, Cellebrite, EnCase, FTK, Nuix or dtSearch.
Detailed knowledge computer and server hardware implementation and administration.
Knowledge of document processing and review platforms (e.g. NUIX, Relativity, Reveal, Recommind, Clearwell).
Knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model with knowledge of the discovery process in Ireland

Education:

You should hold a primary and/or master’s degree in a computing based area. A master’s degree in forensic computing is preferable. Experience in the following areas would be preferable:
Windows desktop and server operating system implementation and administration
Email systems (Microsoft Exchange and/or Lotus Notes) implementation and administration
Unix-based desktop and server operating system implementation and administration
Basic networking implementation and administration

Location

The positions available will be primarily based in the Dublin office; however, with clients throughout Ireland, some travel may be necessary.

Remuneration: Dependent on experience.
