The Elevator Pitch: Why will you enjoy this new opportunity?
You see security as something that’s built in from day one, not something that’s fixed after the fact with bug fixes. You’re not content with providing tooling that doesn’t get used, or working on compliance audits that get forgotten the moment they are over. You’re looking for a role where you get to influence the way products are built. You want to see security infused into every design, every decision, every code review. You see yourself as someone who enables developers with tooling, and shares your experience and knowledge to help us continuously improve the way we build software.
This engineer role provides an exciting opportunity to take the next step in your career. You’ll be joining a team of DevSecOps engineers on a rapidly growing, highly collaborative R&D team working on VMware Cloud on Dell EMC (VMC on Dell). You’ll be building tooling and automation to enable us to build secure and compliant software, and working with other engineering and product management leads to help craft our security roadmap.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within your first three months:
Learn about the VMC on Dell product, and our existing tools and processes
Become proficient in VMware’s security rules and standards
Review the outcomes from our recent SOC2 re-certification and collaborate with PMs and engineering leaders to implement any required tooling and automation enhancements
Within your first six months:
Unify our secrets management into a single tool
Contribute to meeting the OKRs set by our engineering leadership team for Security, Compliance and Privacy Engineering
Work with engineering leads, PMs and our internal compliance teams to coordinate compliance audits
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
Design, build and maintain tools and automation to support our product’s security and compliance needs
Triaging scan results and working with engineering teams to ensure identified issues are resolved in a timely manner
Guide and mentor junior team members
Participate in technical design reviews, providing feedback and guidance to engineers to ensure we are designing and building secure and compliant software
Work closely with our internal compliance teams and auditors as we conduct our required compliance certifications
Develop and maintain documentation for security systems and procedures
Communicate directly with customers to answer any of their security questions and concerns
