ECCC and NCC-IE

The European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) aims to increase Europe’s cyber capabilities and competitiveness and works with the Network of National Coordination Centres (NCC’s) of each member country to create a strong cybersecurity community. Ireland’s NCC-IE is managed by the National Cyber Security Centre.

The ECCC and NCCs seek to support innovation and industrial policy in cybersecurity, coordination investment and pooling resources, reinforcing the EU’s open strategic autonomy. They provide funding through the Digital Europe Programme and Horizon Europe programs, as well as financial support to third parties to improve cybersecurity.

Established in 2023, the National Cybersecurity Coordination and Development Centre, Ireland (NCC-IE) plays a vital role in Ireland’s cybersecurity community, engaging with industry, academia, research and other societal stakeholders to raise cybersecurity awareness and to promote funding supports and associated networking opportunities. NCC-IE also operates a Cyber Security Improvement Grant Scheme for Irish SMEs. The NCC-IE function is coordinated by the Capacity Building team in the NCSC.
