Cyber Security Month Wrap-Up

What a month October has been with huge amount of activities, events and awareness campaigns on Cyber Security. Our activities for Cyber Security Month were promoted on our CyberSecMonth Webpage and included:

● The Launch of our newest Chapter in the North-West
Enterprise Ireland Cyber Innovation Series and Virtual Inward Buyer Visits,
Cyber Women Ireland Mentorship Programme & InQuizition
● Promoting our members and partners events and activities,
● Sharing Cyber Security Resources from our Members,
● Promote cybersecurity among businesses and the general public, providing relevant resources and sharing of good practices from Cyber Ireland members

Thanks to everyone who ran an event, joined our webinars, shared our tweets and LinkedIn posts and promoted the importance of cyber security this October. By working together we can provide a collective voice for Cyber Security in Ireland and raise awareness of the importance of cyber security for our economy and society.

CWI Cyber Inspire Mentorship Programme

Cyber Women Ireland launched Cyber Inspire Mentorship program with 11 mentors and mentees in October. There was an overwhelming response to the mentorship pilot and we selected people from across Ireland from various levels of experience and sectors. The pilot continues until the end of the year.

Cyber Women Ireland will then launch a live version of Cyber Inspire in Q1 2021. So if you didn’t get on the pilot there’s still great opportunity to join the program next year.

 

ENISA AD HOC WORKING GROUP on Skills

Congratulations to Joanne O’Connor, Cyber Security Training & Education Officer HPE and Cyber Ireland Board Member, who has been selected for the ENISA AD HOC WORKING GROUP on Skills.

Employment-Based Programme (Postgraduate) & Enterprise Partnership Scheme (Postgraduate & Postdoctoral)

Irish Research Council (IRC) has launch the call for three industry-academic postgradauate partnership programmes. First piloted in 2012, it provides students in all disciplines an opportunity to bring great research ideas into an Irish employment partner with the support of a higher education institution. IRC top up the wage of a full time employee with €24,000 per annum to complete a higher degree by research.

Cyber Skills Survey Workshop

We are hosting a workshop in December for members who participated in the first annual Cyber Ireland Skills Survey to present the findings and gather feedback as to the recommendations required to address identified challenges. The Cyber Skills Survey Report will be published in December.

€1 Billion European Cybersecurity Investment Platform (CIPP)

Cyber Ireland signs up to European Cyber Security Organisaiton (ECSO) initiative for the creation of a €1 billion European Cybersecurity Investment Platform (CIPP), which aims to support the maturation of Europe’s cybersecurity sector through private investment and urgently address the funding gap in the European cybersecurity sector.

Privacy Survey: Irish attitudes to privacy in COVID-19 times

The PRIVATT Project has developed a survey to understand more about the attitudes of the Irish general public toward privacy during this pandemic. It aims to understand the influence of these attitudes on the usage of various technologies that may be employed in controlling the spread of COVID-19. Tech News Article Here
