A CorkSec talk will take place Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 7:00 PM in The Pavilion (Careys Lane · Cork City)

CorkSec is a Monthly meetup for anyone interested in Information Security in the Munster region (primarily Cork), which has been running since June 2013. Regardless of whether you identify yourself as an InfoSec Professional, a Hacker, a Researcher, a Student or just someone with an interest in breaking things to see how they work / stopping people breaking things to see how they work – all are welcome, and please invite your like-minded friends.

This month’s talks will combine two very interesting topics about this Security sector:

  • TALK 1: A guide to Data Loss Prevention – Rahul Krishna
How do organizations protect their sensitive and confidential data? And what is a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) or Insider Threat program?
In this talk, we’ll dive into tools and methods companies use for securing their information.
  • TALK 2: Meshtastic decentralised long-range communication – Patryk Glogowski
Meshtastic is an open-source, off-grid, decentralised mesh network built on affordable low-power devices. This talk will cover the following, complete with hands-on devices to have fun with:
What is meshtastic? How long is the range? How does it make non-centralized communication available? What you need to start talking via meshtastic and what is needed to talk across the globe.

Doors open at 19:00 with talks starting at 19:15
